Kirsty Williams welcomes Ros as new Liberal Democrat President

Commenting on the news that Ros Scott has been elected President of the federal party Kirsty Williams said:

“I am delighted that Ros has won – I have been backing her all the way and I know she will be a great asset to our party.

“Ros is a great friend to Wales and I know she will work hard to fully include us in her plans for the future of the party.

“It is warming to see such an important party position go to a female and is yet another example of the Lib Dem’s progress on equal opportunity. I know Ros will inspire more women to become more active within the party.

“We had a strong selection of candidates and I wish Lembit Opik and Chandila Fernando the best of luck and am sure that the party will continue to use their talents to best effect.

“I look forward to working with Ros and I know she will further the good work Simon Hughes has done.”

Deputy Mayor of Cardigan- Williams’ supporter of the day

As Kirsty Williams, candidate for the Welsh Lib Dem leadership, spends the day with campaigners and supporters in West Wales her supporter of the day is Cllr Mark Cole, Deputy Mayor of Cardigan.

Cllr Mark Cole says:

“I’m backing Kirsty to be our next leader because she’s an energetic and passionate campaigner for radical Welsh liberalism. She’s charismatic, enthusiastic and has a burning desire to show Wales what Welsh liberalism is all about. A firebrand who will lead from the front, I believe she is best placed as the next leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, to shake-up and break-up the cosy Cardiff Bay Rhodri-Ieuan-Nick triumvurate and give us our best opportunity to move forward in 2011 and beyond.”

Notes:

Mae’r Cynghorydd Mark Cole yn cefnogi Kirsty…

“Rwy’n cefnogi Kirsty am ein harweinydd nesaf am ei bod yn ymgyrchydd egnïol a brwdfrydig dros ryddfrydiaeth radicalaidd yng Nghymru. Mae’n garismataidd, brwdfrydig ac mae hi ar dân i ddangos i Gymru beth yw hanfod rhyddfrydiaeth Gymreig. Yn wleidydd tanbaid a fydd yn arwain o’r rheng flaen, credaf mai hi sydd yn y sefyllfa orau, fel arweinydd nesaf Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol Cymru i ysgwyd a chwalu’r triawd clyd o Rhodri Ieuan a Nick ym Mae Caerdydd a rhoi i ni ein cyfle gorau i symud ymlaen yn 2011 a thu hwnt.”
